Swimming To Lose Weight

The worst part about most exercise programs is that they are so boring. Running on the treadmill, working the stepper, or cycling are usually little motivation for climbing out of bed in the morning. Gyms provide good music and, on occasion, some luscious eye candy, but most of us are not happy burning our calories away. The result is that we are irregular and have to drag ourselves to the gym when we do go. Unfortunately, with all the appliances and help that we have surrounded ourselves with, we get little or no physical activity. Our body is a machine designed to work and in the absence of work, falls ill. The simplest solution is to find ways to make the body work and enjoy the work in the process.

The easiest way to do this is to find a sport that we enjoy playing. Remember the time that we used to rush downstairs after school to play with our friends. The play comprised of running, tennis, badminton, swimming, and several other variations of catch games. Think of what you enjoy best and start playing again. Find a partner or play yourself. If you weren’t very good at anything specific, play a game of catching with your son or daughter. In this unfair world, kids get to play games while we sweat it out on the treadmill. What a dreadful waste of time. Combine your play with your exercise and it will be the easiest thing possible.

One of the best examples of the above concept is swimming. If you don’t know how to swim, I would go as far as to recommend that you should take lessons. Swimming is one of the most perfect exercises that I know which can be done with the family on a hot summer afternoon. It is immensely pleasurable and very good for every part of your inner and outer body. It helps both upper and lower body muscles, and increases lung power, not to mention boosts stamina. It is also a lifelong skill that can come in handy when your parachute plunges into water. It is great bonding activity for friends and family alike.

Not everybody has a pool in the house. However, most people do have access to a society pool or club pool. Swimming pools usually shut down during the day and so it may require some planning in advance. Once you have learnt swimming, there are many water sports that you can attempt to do in a beach or any other natural water body. These are pretty exciting and not at all dangerous.

Some people complain of water phobia, may be due to a bad experience in the past. It is not always possible to overcome these fears.

There is no right age to expose a child to water. Start at the earliest so that they become comfortable with water. Be careful not to leave them unsupervised even in the children’s play section. Accidents can happen anytime, anywhere, without any warning.

To summarize, don’t make exercise a chore that you try and get out of. Choose activities like swimming that you look forward to, or ones that make you happy. What can be better than making your exercise regime your family entertainment option?

Have Fun with Your Kids

It is time to stop hearing that phrase “I am bored” again. Although some days it looks like you have no energy left to devote to your kids , it is important for you to remember that these are the times that they will later cherish in their memory and you will be glad you had a chance to experience a variety of things with them. Having fun is not that difficult. Just get off the couch and open the door to excitement. Spending some quality time with your children does not only help them build a better relationship with you, it does also offer to you the opportunity to examine how your kids feel to be able to smile to something else than that TV set they are usually watching.

One interesting idea is for you to invest in buying a trampoline. If you have a garden or a park nearby, trampolines are always fun to play with regardless of the kids’ age. Burning calories and having fun can be combined through this exciting outdoor activity and if you have a video-camera prepare to film your kids’ movements up on the air.

Another interesting idea to have fun and spend time with your beloved ones is to go fishing, or experience the sea by experimenting with a variety of water-sports. Since you know that children always enjoy splashing around in the bathtub why not see them do whatever they want in the pool of your local water resort?

If you budget can handle the expense, there is always the solution of investing in an above-ground pool that is big enough to fit both you and your kids. Balls, rubber toys, boats, can be added to the scene and your kids will look you with excitement every time you mention that it is bath-time again!

If summer is approaching and you have no time available to take the kids off to that destination you believe they would enjoy while schools are on a break, consider the solution of a summer camp. Experienced professionals offer a variety of activities and your kids will feel that this adventure belongs only to them. Even if you are not willing to let your children summer camp overnight, you can always select a day camp and pick them up by sunset.

Of course, you can go fly a kite, play soccer, baseball, football or any sport they like with them. Kids love to run around, why not let them test their talents and have fun at the same time? Physical activity is strongly advised by experts and children should be outdoors as often as possible and experience life as they should.

When the rainy days come, you can have your kids help you out in the kitchen. Teach them to make their favorite chocolate cake, bake cookies or cook that dinner you are planning for grandpa and grandma. Imagine their faces when they will announce to their grandparents that this meal is the outcome of their efforts. Although you are now thinking of the mess you will have later to clean, it is certainly more enjoyable to prepare a meal with them than to have them play a video-game all day. Also, you can organize a dress up contest and have the winner do something next week that he or she wants. Old pillow cases, overused towels or unused blankets can become the dress-code of your kids’ dinner party and you will be glad you decided to stay in and enjoy that “beautiful day in the indoor park” with them.

Imagine, create, and experience the life you will later remember with nostalgia. Kids eventually grow up and it will be difficult for you to chase them over the bed or let them jump up and down the couch! Act now and be sure that your children will cherish the time that you spend with them for a lifetime.

Homemade Beauty Recipes and Remedies

Making your own homemade beauty products is much easier than you’d think. The recipes that you find on this site are easy to follow along and use mostly common household products.

Aphrodite Apple Mask – 1 T Applesauce, 1 T Wheat Germ Purée apple in a blender or add applesauce to a small bowl. Mix in the wheat germ to form a paste. Apply to washed, scrubbed, and steamed face. Allow mask to set for 10-15 minutes. Tone then moisturize.

Grape Cleanser Recipe – Grape juice makes an excellent cleanser for any skin type. Simply split one or two large grapes, remove pips and rub the flesh over face and neck. Rinse off with cool water.

Cold Remedy Bubble Bath – 6 drops of eucalyptus oil, 3 drops of spearmint oil, 3 drops of peppermint oil, 1 quart of distilled water, 1 bar of castile soap. (4 oz. Bar), 4 ounces liquid glycerin. Mix the water, soap and glycerin together and stir. Now add your essential oils to the mixture. This bubble bath will help you breathe easier, with eucalyptus oil to ease the cold congestion. This is perfect for the cold season.

Take 4-5 chips of Chocolate, About 3 full tablespoon of cocoa butter, One capsule of Vitamin E – Put all ingredients in a large boiler and melt them very well. After this, blend it by using a spoon. One can use this homemade lip-gloss on lips. Pour it into a small bottle and keep in a cool place for making it solid.

Thyme and Fennel Seed Cleanser (for normal skin) – 2 sprigs fresh thyme, crumbled (or 1/2 T dried Thyme), 2 teaspoons fennel seeds, crushed, 1/2 cup boiling water, Juice of Half Lemon Mix the thyme and fennel seed in a bowl and cover with boiling water. Add lemon juice and steep for 15 minutes. Strain the infusion and store the liquid in a jar, in the refrigerator.

Basic Balancer – 3 cups distilled water, 1/3 cups apple cider vinegar. Combine water and vinegar. Pour into a clean decorative decanter and store in the bathroom.

Massaging with essential oils on the affected areas having stretch marks offers as the best home remedy treatment for elimination of stretch marks. One can use flaxseed oil, olive oil, cod liver oil or vitamin E oil for the massage.

Mayonnaise is a great conditioner for dry hair. Depending on the length of your hair, apply approximately 1/2 cup of mayonnaise to your dry hair. Work into hair really well and then cover your hair with a plastic bag, allowing to set for about 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and then shampoo as usual.

Brunettes and Redheads — Add a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to your rinse water. Stir 1 teaspoon of honey into 4 cups (1 quart) warm water. After shampooing, pour the mixture through you hair. Do not rinse out. Dry as normal.

Yogurt Face Mask – 1 tbsp natural yogurt, room temperature (not lowfat or non-fat), 1 tsp runny honey (microwave for a few minutes to soften hardened honey) Combine mixture, then apply to face. Let sit for 15 minutes. Wash face with steaming washcloth. For dry skin, use an extra tsp of honey. Oily skin? Add a few drops of fresh lime juice.

To lighten dark circles under your eyes, wrap a grated raw potato in cheesecloth and apply to eyelids for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Cucumber Facial Cleanser -Extract juice from the cucumber by using a juicer. Get a small amount of juice and mix with milk enough to clean your face. Dub a little amount of the mix using a clean cotton balls and gently wipe your face. Then wash your face with lukewarm water. This is recipe will clean stubborn dirt from your face.

Breakfast Cereals

Breakfast cereals are often seen as the “breakfast of champions” and this is exactly what advertisements will tell you.

Don’t fall for it!

Cereals are made from the ground pulp of grains. This pulp has close to zero nutrients because the fibrous and mineral containing husks of the grains are already removed. In addition, allergy to grains is very high especially among the Caucasian population.

An experiment at the University of Michigan involved 18 rats. They were divided into three groups: one group received corn flakes and water; the second group was fed water as well as the cardboard box that came with the corn flakes; the control group received rat chow and water.

The control group was fine. The rats eating the box were malnourished of course and eventually died. But the rats receiving the corn flakes and water died before the rats that were eating the box! (The last corn flake rat died the day the first box rat died.)

They also died a ugly death, which included schizophrenic behavior, fits, convulsions and biting each other.

The conclusion is that the cornflake box was more nutritious than the cornflakes!

A clear liquid diet may be used before a test or surgery to make sure your digestive tract is empty. The digestive tract is the path that food takes through your body as it is digested. A person may also need this diet after stomach or bowel surgery, it may be either in small intestine or in large intestines. If you have problems with eating solid food, the goal of this diet is to provide liquids and part of the calories you need until you can eat solid food. Clear liquids are easily digested as they are in broken state and do not put a strain on your stomach or intestines.
